A large-scale study in Sweden identified the electric vehicles with the most durable batteries. Kvdbil tested over 1,300 used electric and hybrid cars to determine which models best retain battery capacity over time.
The leaders were the Kia EV6, Kia e-Niro, and Tesla Model Y. According to the tests, eight out of ten EVs maintain at least 90% of their original battery capacity. Project lead Martin Reinholdsson noted that the results exceeded expectations, especially given the high number of Teslas in use in the country.
Experts attribute these results to efficient battery management systems and thoughtful engineering by the manufacturers. Battery longevity also depends on driving style, vehicle age, and charging habits.
In addition to Kia and Tesla, the top 10 included models from Opel, Mazda, Audi, Fiat, Volvo, Citroën, and Volkswagen. The study confirms that modern electric vehicles are not just a trend but a reliable and long-lasting mode of transportation for the future.
