Classic hydraulic automatic transmissions fitted to select Toyota, Lexus, Mazda, and Mitsubishi models can last more than 300,000 kilometers with regular maintenance.

The ranking highlights vehicles equipped with Aisin gearboxes and Mazda's SkyActiv-Drive transmission.

The list includes:

  • Toyota Camry (2011–present) with the six-speed U760E and eight-speed Aisin UB80 automatic transmissions.
  • Toyota RAV4 (2012–present) featuring the U760E six-speed gearbox or the Aisin UB80E eight-speed transmission on 2.5-liter gasoline models.
  • Lexus RX 350 (2012–2022) equipped with reinforced Aisin UA80E eight-speed automatic transmissions paired with V6 engines.
  • Mazda 6 (2012–2024) using six-speed SkyActiv-Drive gearboxes, including the FW6A-EL for naturally aspirated engines and the stronger GW6A-EL for turbocharged versions.
  • Mitsubishi Outlander V6 models (2006–2021) fitted with the six-speed Aisin TF-80SC automatic transmission, also known by the F6AJA or W6AJA designations.

Experts note that Aisin's eight-speed transmissions and Mazda's SkyActiv-Drive units can accumulate friction material in the transmission fluid because of early torque converter lock-up. Without timely fluid changes, debris can clog the valve body, damage solenoids, and cause rough shifting.

They also warn that aggressive launches are particularly hard on the Toyota Camry 3.5 equipped with the U660E transmission, where high loads may accelerate wear of the housing bearing and planetary gearset.
