Up to 30,000 corporate positions at Amazon may be cut, according to recent reports. The layoffs are expected to affect several departments, including human resources, devices and services, operations, and others.
This would mark Amazon’s largest round of job cuts since late 2022, when the company laid off 27,000 employees.
In recent years, Amazon has made smaller reductions across different divisions. Earlier this year, in January, the company trimmed a limited number of roles in its communications and sustainability teams.
The latest cuts follow a CNBC report discussing an internal memo from CEO Andy Jassy, who noted that as Amazon continues to deploy more artificial intelligence agents, the company will require fewer corporate roles.
