Power outages will occur across all regions of Ukraine today.
Russia continues its campaign of energy terror. On Wednesday, November 5, Russian forces struck energy infrastructure in the Chernihiv, Sumy, and Donetsk regions. Emergency repair works are underway at the affected facilities, the Ministry of Energy reported on Telegram.
Due to these attacks, scheduled power outages for households are being implemented across the country from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Depending on the region, consumers will be without electricity for 4–8 hours a day. Industrial users face power-restriction schedules from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. Residents can check specific outage schedules on the official websites and social media pages of their regional energy providers.
Recent large-scale strikes against Ukraine’s energy system signal the beginning of a new phase of Russia’s energy terror campaign. Journalist Vladyslav Obukh explores whether Ukraine is prepared for this winter, how Russian tactics have evolved, and what citizens should do to get through the cold season in the article “Russia escalates energy terror: how to survive the winter.”
