Ukraine has held a high-level coordination meeting on expanding sanctions against Russia over its war against Ukraine, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced on Telegram.

According to Zelenskyy, the key objective is to prevent Russia from adapting to existing restrictions.

"We see that every Russian missile, every drone, and most other types of Russian weapons contain critical components from other countries. Without them, these weapons simply would not exist," the president said.

The meeting also focused on Russia's continued access to foreign machine tools and industrial technologies that, according to Zelenskyy, Moscow would not be able to develop on its own.

"More pressure is needed to limit the aggressor state's connections with the rest of the world," he said.

Zelenskyy instructed officials to prepare a detailed plan for a special sanctions operation aimed at significantly restricting Russia's military-industrial complex. The measures are expected to target specific companies operating in key sectors that support Russian weapons production.

Each participant in the meeting received concrete assignments, with the president expressing confidence that they would be fully implemented.

Earlier, Ukraine imposed sanctions on 23 additional companies linked to Russia's defense industry.

Zelenskyy also recently stated that only a handful of countries have successfully developed both indigenous ballistic missiles and anti-ballistic defense systems, adding that Ukraine expects to achieve this capability in the near future.
