An explosion and fire broke out on Hlyniany Tract Street in Lviv on Sunday morning, August 23, covering an area of about 30 square meters, according to Lviv city authorities.
The fire was preliminarily caused by an electrical fault, authorities said. Flames spread to shelves containing alcohol-based medicines and aerosols, which then ignited and caused an explosion.
A 24-year-old man died as a result of the fire.
Twenty-two rescuers and five firefighting vehicles are currently working to extinguish the blaze.
The incident comes a day after another fire at the Iskra plant in Lviv’s Sykhivskyi district. A warehouse containing aerosol cans caught fire there, killing three workers. Three women and two men also suffered burns.
