A deadly traffic accident occurred in Kyiv after a car crashed into the structure of a pedestrian underpass, killing at least four people, according to local reports.
Police spokesperson Yuliia Hirdvilis said that a Mercedes driver was traveling at high speed, mounted the pedestrian area, and crashed near the entrance to the underpass. Preliminary reports indicate that four people were killed and three others were hospitalized with serious injuries.
Kyiv police said the crash occurred at around 5:30 p.m. at the intersection of Vadym Hetman Street and Ushynskoho Street. According to preliminary information, the driver lost control of the vehicle while traveling at high speed.
Investigators and patrol police officers are working at the scene. Authorities are continuing to establish the exact circumstances of the accident.
