A Ukrainian naval drone lost control after being affected by Russian electronic warfare systems and drifted toward the Romanian coast while carrying out a mission in the Black Sea, the Ukrainian Navy said.

According to the statement, the Ukrainian Navy promptly informed the Romanian Naval Forces to help prevent any risk to civilians.

The incident comes after an explosion involving a maritime drone in the Romanian port of Constanța on Friday morning. Romanian authorities confirmed that the drone detonated on its own and said it was of a type used during the war in Ukraine.

A similar case occurred on May 7, when a sea drone was discovered near the Greek island of Lefkada. Greek Defense Minister Nikos Dendias stated that the drone was Ukrainian and called on Kyiv to issue an official apology. Following the incident, Greece reportedly lodged two diplomatic protests with Ukraine.
