Zelenskyy meets Keith Kellogg in Kyiv

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with former Trump special envoy Keith Kellogg in Kyiv on August 22 to discuss Russia’s escalating strikes and ways to strengthen Ukraine’s air defenses.

Zelenskyy said Kellogg had traveled from Odesa to Kyiv to attend Ukraine’s Veterans Forum, thanking him for showing respect to Ukrainian service members.

The two discussed Russia’s intensifying attacks on infrastructure and civilians. Zelenskyy stressed that ballistic missile defense is Ukraine’s top priority.

He said Ukraine and European partners are working to develop their own ballistic missile defense system, but emphasized that Patriot interceptor missiles remain essential for getting through the coming winter.

“Ukraine is ready to buy them, and any efforts in this direction are important,” Zelenskyy said.
