Ukraine will introduce electricity restrictions for businesses and industrial consumers nationwide on October 18, while scheduled power cuts for all consumer categories will apply in some regions, Ukrenergo announced.
From 6:00 a.m. to 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, the following measures will be in effect:
- Power capacity limits for industrial enterprises and businesses across all regions.
- Scheduled hourly power cuts for all consumer categories in selected regions, ranging from 0.5 to 1.5 outage groups.
The restrictions are necessary because of the consequences of large-scale Russian attacks on energy infrastructure.
The situation in Ukraine’s power system may change depending on the impact of the attacks. Consumers are advised to check the latest schedules and updates published by their local electricity distribution operators.
Ukrenergo also urged consumers to use electricity sparingly when power is restored according to the schedule.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy previously said Russia had attacked more than 15 critical energy facilities in one of its largest strikes on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure.
