Ukraine’s State Migration Service has temporarily suspended the processing and issuance of passport documents from September 28 through September 30 because of a technical failure affecting communications equipment used by the agency, the DMS said.
The disruption affects access to some of the Migration Service’s information and telecommunications systems, preventing the agency from providing passport-related services as usual.
“The access to some information and telecommunications systems of the State Migration Service has been temporarily restricted due to a technical failure involving equipment operated by the electronic communications services provider that maintains the communication channels,” the agency said.
The official DMS website is also temporarily unavailable while the communications operator carries out restoration work.
Passport services affected
The suspension concerns the processing and issuance of Ukrainian passport documents, including international passports and ID cards, according to the DMS.
The Migration Service said services should resume once the technical problems have been resolved, with the current disruption expected to last through September 30.
The outage comes after recent attacks on telecommunications and data-center infrastructure in Kyiv, which have caused temporary disruptions to internet and digital services. Ukrainian regulators have warned that damage to communications infrastructure could continue to affect connectivity and access to some services.
