Hourly electricity outages will be introduced in some regions of Ukraine on Saturday, October 10, alongside power consumption restrictions for industrial and business customers, Ukrenergo said.
Under the announced measures, the following restrictions will apply:
- Industrial and business customers: power consumption limits throughout the day, from 12 a.m. to 11:59 p.m.
- All categories of consumers: hourly power outages from 6 a.m. to 11:59 p.m., affecting one to two outage groups depending on the region.
Ukrenergo said the restrictions were necessary because of the impact of Russian combined attacks on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure.
The company warned that the situation in the power system could change following further Russian strikes and urged consumers to monitor announcements from their local electricity distribution operators.
Ukrainians were also urged to use electricity sparingly whenever power is available according to the outage schedules.
The announcement follows a tightening of electricity restrictions on October 9, when outages for some consumers were extended to 2.5 outage groups instead of the two groups initially announced.
Earlier on Friday, Russian forces also struck two DTEK energy facilities in Dnipropetrovsk region, damaging equipment and causing a fire.
