Former two-division UFC champion Conor McGregor suffered a disappointing defeat in his long-awaited return to the Octagon, losing in the main event of UFC 329.

The 37-year-old Irishman made his comeback at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, where he faced former UFC featherweight champion Max Holloway.

The fight lasted just 69 seconds before McGregor suffered a leg injury that left him unable to continue. The referee stopped the bout, awarding Holloway a victory by TKO.

It was the second meeting between the two fighters. McGregor defeated Holloway in their first encounter in August 2013.

The Irish star had not competed in the UFC since July 2021, when he broke his leg during a loss to Dustin Poirier.

McGregor's professional MMA record now stands at 22 wins and seven losses in 29 fights. He has also competed once in professional boxing, losing to Floyd Mayweather.
