Measures to stop Russia’s use of Starlink have worked — Musk

The American entrepreneur urged that the company be informed if further measures are needed. SpaceX founder Elon Musk said that restrictions on Starlink satellite communications used by Russian drones appear to have been effective. He wrote about this on X in response to a post by Ukraine’s Minister of Digital Transformation Mykhailo Fedorov, who thanked the company’s leadership — including President Gwynne Shotwell — as well as Musk personally for their swift response and the rapid launch of work on a relevant solution.

“It seems that our measures to block Russia’s unauthorized use of Starlink have worked. Please let us know if additional actions are needed,” Musk said.

Earlier, Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski called on Musk to cut off Russian military access to Starlink, which is reportedly being used in drones. In response, Musk insulted Sikorski, calling him a “drooling idiot.”

However, according to Serhii Beskrestnov, an adviser to Ukraine’s defense minister, SpaceX has implemented a number of countermeasures at the request of the Defense Ministry to counter enemy strike drones. He said that some Starlink users have already experienced these changes in practice.
