European governments are taking Trump’s threats to seize Greenland seriously, Politico reports.

EU and NATO officials are exploring ways to prevent U.S. action, with four main options under discussion:

Negotiate a compromise – Offer Trump a political “win” while keeping Greenland under Danish control, possibly with NATO mediation.

Financial incentives – Provide Greenland with significant EU and Danish funding to strengthen its autonomy and economic development.

Economic countermeasures – Use EU trade and political leverage to deter U.S. coercion.

Military presence – Deploy European troops to Greenland if Denmark requests support, acting as a deterrent against any U.S. military move.

Trump’s interest in Greenland stems from strategic location, natural resources, and Arctic influence. Denmark and Greenland warn that any U.S. attack could endanger NATO. The White House maintains it prefers negotiations but has not ruled out force.
