Pension recalculation: who will receive higher payments from April 1

The Pension Fund is carrying out an automatic recalculation of pensions for those who continue to work.

Starting from April 1, higher pensions will be paid to pensioners who are still working. This recalculation is предусмотрено (provided for) by the law “On Mandatory State Pension Insurance,” as reported by the Pension Fund of Ukraine.

Thus, elderly people who, after being granted a pension, have continued to work officially and for whom the unified social contribution has been paid (or who have paid it themselves) are entitled to a pension recalculation every two years.

The pension recalculation is carried out:

  • from the first day of the month in which the pensioner applied for recalculation — if the application is submitted by the 15th (inclusive),
  • from the first day of the following month — if the application is submitted after the 15th.

An automatic recalculation is performed if, after the previous recalculation, a person continued working and, as of March 1 of the year in which the recalculation is carried out, has accumulated 24 months of insurance record, or has worked less than 24 months but two years have passed since the pension was assigned.

Earlier, it was reported that from April 1, increases will also be granted to pensioners whose payments are linked to updated indicators of monetary support. In particular, this concerns military personnel, law enforcement officers, civil servants, and scientists — for whom a scheduled recalculation is carried out in accordance with current legislation.

Payments will also increase for older people. Pensioners aged 70, 75, or 80 will continue to receive age-related supplements, and from April their amounts may rise due to updates in basic social standards.

Separately, recalculations will affect disability pensions and survivor’s pensions if they depend on the subsistence minimum.
