In Ukraine, rolling power outages for residential consumers will continue on November 17. Between one and four blocks may be disconnected at the same time, a deterioration compared with November 16, according to Ukrenergo’s Telegram.
The company said the restrictions are due to the effects of Russian missile and drone attacks on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure. Outages will run from 00:00 to 23:59, while power limitations for industrial consumers will also remain in effect.
Ukrenergo emphasized that schedules may change depending on the situation:
"Attention! The timing and scope of restrictions may change. Follow updates on official regional energy company pages. When electricity is available, please use it sparingly."
The outages follow the large-scale Russian attacks on Ukraine’s energy system on the night of November 8, which forced the shutdown of both Centrenergo thermal power plants and damaged numerous other energy facilities.
Russian forces continue targeting the energy infrastructure. Iranian-made Shahed drones struck a power facility in Nizhyn, and another energy site in Chernihiv region was later attacked.
Ukrenergo had previously promised that schedules would be eased for most regions over the weekend, but in practice, electricity was cut in one to 3.5 blocks simultaneously throughout the weekend.
