On the morning of October 17, near the village of Sukhyi Lyman in Odesa district, a truck struck two soldiers at a mobile checkpoint. One died at the scene, and the other later in the ambulance. Police are investigating the circumstances of the incident.
According to Odesa regional police, the accident occurred around 7 a.m. on the road near Sukhyi Lyman. The soldiers, aged 34 and 36, were on duty at the checkpoint.
Preliminary findings indicate that the 63-year-old truck driver did not see the soldiers. Police confirmed the driver was sober.
The investigative team is examining all details of the crash, and authorities are considering formally registering the case and detaining the driver for procedural measures.
