A Russian attack on passenger trains in Shostka, Sumy region, has left one person dead and around 30 others injured, according to the Sumy Regional Prosecutor’s Office.
The body of a 71-year-old man was found inside one of the train cars hit by a Russian drone at the city’s railway station, prosecutors reported. The criminal case has been reclassified under Article 438 of Ukraine’s Criminal Code — war crimes resulting in loss of life.
Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko said on Telegram that the strike involved a double, targeted attack on the Shostka railway station and passenger trains.
“The enemy continues its tactic of striking railway infrastructure — civilian facilities and places of mass gatherings, which they are well aware of. This was another brutal and cynical act of terrorism. The world cannot ignore it,” she stressed.
Governor of the Sumy Regional Administration Vladyslav Hryhorov added that the strikes caused power outages across Shostka and parts of the district.
