Finland’s President Alexander Stubb suggested that a new meeting between U.S. President Donald Trump and Russian leader Vladimir Putin could take place at the G20 summit in South Africa this November, Finnish outlet Yle reports.
Speaking at the opening of the National Defence Courses, Stubb emphasized that Russia’s war against Ukraine is ongoing and that Finland remains firmly committed to supporting Kyiv. He noted that Ukraine’s experience in modern warfare provides valuable insights.
Stubb also highlighted growing nuclear security concerns, stating that the world has entered a new nuclear era in which such weapons play an increasingly significant role. He recalled that Trump ordered nuclear tests in response to those carried out by Russia and North Korea, and mentioned that NATO recently completed its annual nuclear exercises.
The Finnish president stressed that Finland’s national defense remains strong and continues to advance.
