Hamas militants are expected to release all hostages in the first half of next week, while a final agreement on Gaza is planned to be signed in Egypt.
US President Donald Trump made the statement during a Cabinet meeting.
“We have ensured the release of all remaining hostages (Hamas), and they are expected to be freed on Monday or Tuesday (October 13 or 14),” Trump said.
He added that the release of hostages is a complex process and he “prefers not to disclose what needs to be done for their freedom.”
“We will go to Egypt, where the signing of an additional agreement will take place. We have already signed the agreement on my behalf, but now the official signing will occur,” the American leader clarified.
He also noted that Middle Eastern countries, from Qatar to Saudi Arabia and the UAE, both wealthy and less wealthy, “have all come together.”
The President specified that the Gaza Strip will be “rebuilt.”
“In this part of the world, some countries have enormous wealth, and even a small portion of what they earn can work wonders for Gaza,” he said.
The Gaza Agreement
Earlier, on the night of October 9, President Trump stated that Israel and Hamas had signed the first stage of the American peace plan.
According to the US leader, Hamas essentially agreed to release all hostages, while Israel would withdraw its soldiers to the agreed line.
Against this backdrop, media reports suggest that a full peace agreement is expected to be signed in Egypt.
