There are pros and cons to taking a shower in the morning or evening.
Doctors say both are beneficial, but an evening shower may have the edge, according to Mirror.
“An evening shower is considered best for hygiene and promotes a good night’s sleep. It’s the perfect way to relax, release tension from work or the gym, and wash off the day’s dirt. People who shower at night often sleep more soundly and feel cleaner,” says general practitioner Giuseppe Aragon.
Your body and hair can accumulate airborne allergens, dirt, and dust, especially in the summer. Skipping a night shower may transfer these irritants to your bed and sheets, potentially triggering nighttime allergies, he explains.
Neglecting an evening shower can also lead to dry, irritated skin and acne. Experts recommend showers no longer than 10 minutes at a moderate water temperature to avoid irritation.
Morning showers also have benefits. They can refresh the skin and stimulate blood cells. Washing in the morning helps remove excess oil that accumulates overnight. Dermatologist Sasha Kor from Beauty + Skin Clinic notes, however, that a facial cleanser can achieve similar results even without a full morning shower.
Learning the right washing technique is important. While it may seem simple, improper face washing can lead not only to dryness and tightness but also to more serious dermatological issues.
Tip: Always wash your hands before touching your face to avoid spreading bacteria.
