Type 2 diabetes develops when the hormone insulin fails to interact properly with body cells. Doctors classify it as a chronic condition, and high blood sugar can lead to serious complications. Since there is no cure for diabetes, diet plays a key role in managing the disease.
Blood glucose levels often rise after meals. A study in New Zealand found that eating almonds can help reduce these spikes. The study involved 100 participants who consumed either 42.5 g of almonds or sweet biscuits daily, equivalent to 10% of their caloric intake.
Blood sugar levels were measured before meals and 15–30 minutes afterward. Participants who ate almonds showed significantly lower blood sugar levels compared to those who ate biscuits.
