Whether you call it a hobby or a productive habit, certain activities can significantly increase your chances of becoming smarter when done consistently. Hobbies can feel like relaxation, but they’re also a form of self-improvement.
Try memorizing one poem a month. At first, it may feel tedious and you’ll find plenty of excuses, but even small poems can have a big impact. Twelve poems a year don’t seem too daunting, and memorizing them helps form neural connections in your brain, improving cognitive function.
Spend 10–15 minutes a day learning a foreign language. The benefits are obvious: not only will you learn a new language, but you’ll also strengthen neural pathways in your brain. The key is simply to get started.
Once a week, explore something new in science. Whether it’s physics, chemistry, mathematics, or another field, expanding your knowledge broadens your intellectual horizons. New information is never wasted.
