Ukraine is “at a critical moment” amid heightened media noise and political pressure, President Volodymyr Zelensky said on Monday in a video address to the Fourth Parliamentary Summit of the Crimea Platform, according to the national telethon.
Zelensky said Kyiv is working closely with the United States, European partners and others on steps that could bring an end to Russia’s war and ensure lasting security. He warned that Russia is seeking to formalise demands undermining Ukraine’s territorial integrity and sovereignty, and to extend this approach globally.
“There is a lot of noise in the media, a lot of political pressure, and even more responsibility in the decision Putin wants to impose — a legalisation of what he seeks, so that the principle of territorial integrity and sovereignty is not upheld,” he said.
Zelensky called this “extremely dangerous,” saying Russia’s ambitions go beyond Ukraine.
He added that Ukraine, in coordination with the United States, is working on securing the release of all prisoners of war and returning abducted children.
Zelensky urged partners to pursue compromises that strengthen Ukraine rather than weaken it. He also called on parliaments worldwide to maintain pressure on Russia, including through the freezing of Russian assets, and stressed the need for accountability for war crimes.
Regarding the reported U.S. peace proposal, media have said former U.S. President Donald Trump has approved a 28-point plan drafted with advisers including envoy Keith Kellogg, Vice President J.D. Vance, Senator Marco Rubio and others. According to reports, it includes security guarantees for Ukraine but also concessions on control of parts of Donbas, limits on Ukraine’s armed forces and U.S. military aid, partial recognition of Russian as a state language and support for the Russian Orthodox Church.
