The meeting between Russian leader Vladimir Putin and U.S. special envoy Steve Witkoff will take place on Tuesday, December 2, in the afternoon, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov told reporters on Monday.

He noted that Putin is preparing for tomorrow’s Russia–U.S. contacts with the U.S. special envoy and will hold several private meetings beforehand. According to the Kremlin spokesman, footage of the beginning of the Putin–Witkoff meeting will be released immediately, but it is too early to make any statements following the meeting.

"Russia is interested in the success of negotiations on Ukraine, so it will not conduct them in a megaphone mode through the media," Peskov said.

Answering other questions, he added that "Putin’s schedule for the coming week is overloaded." On the evening of November 30, a meeting between the Ukrainian and U.S. delegations on the "peace plan" concluded in Miami. Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Rustem Umerov called the meeting "productive and successful." According to him, significant progress was made in advancing peace and aligning positions with representatives of the U.S. administration. He added that further consultations and coordination on a joint framework decision will continue, but the timeline was not specified.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky also stated that during the meeting in Florida, "it was possible to maintain a constructive tone and focus on issues directly related to strengthening Ukrainian sovereignty and protecting national interests." Today, Witkoff will travel to Russia for talks with Putin. It is currently unknown whether Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner will accompany Witkoff in the Kremlin, as previously planned.
