In Ukraine, 74 prosecutors with disability status have been dismissed from the prosecution authorities following a comprehensive review by the Qualification and Disciplinary Commission of Prosecutors. An additional 66 employees were removed from administrative positions.
This was announced by Prosecutor General Ruslan Kravchenko.
According to him, the issue of "fake disabilities" among prosecutors had long been a taboo topic. However, immediately after his appointment, all such employees were sent for review by the Commission. Currently, 290 disciplinary proceedings are also under consideration.
Kravchenko emphasized that the commission carefully examines each case, as there are prosecutors with genuine health conditions who are legally entitled to disability status. At the same time, he stressed that cases of fraudulent disability will not end with dismissals alone: "If there was a crime, there will be a verdict."
The Prosecutor General reported that several cases have already been sent to court, including those involving the deputy head of the Uman Prosecutor’s Office and the former head of the Khmelnytskyi Prosecutor’s Office.
A case will also be referred to court for a prosecutor who, after being dismissed in 2019, illegally obtained a Group II disability and received a pension for five years. In September, suspicions were announced against him and officials of the Medical-Social Expert Commission (MSEC).
