On Sunday, April 19, Ukrainian tennis players Marta Kostyuk and Veronika Podrez faced each other in the final of the WTA 250 clay-court tournament in Rouen, France.
Top seed Marta Kostyuk (WTA No. 28) defeated the breakthrough finalist Podrez (WTA No. 209) in straight sets, 6–3, 6–4. The match lasted 1 hour and 20 minutes.
For 23-year-old Kostyuk, this was the fifth WTA final of her career and her second title, following her 2023 triumph in Austin.
For 19-year-old Podrez, it marked both her first WTA final and her debut appearance at this level.
Following the victory, Kostyuk is expected to rise to 23rd in the WTA rankings, while Podrez will move up to 147th.
Last year, the Rouen tournament was won by fellow Ukrainian Elina Svitolina.
