The U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) has confirmed strikes over the weekend on Iranian radar installations and drone control facilities in Ghoruk and on Qeshm Island, describing the operations as acts of self-defense.
According to the U.S. military, the strikes were carried out in response to Iranian actions, including the downing of an American MQ-1 drone over international waters. CENTCOM stated that U.S. fighter jets rapidly responded and destroyed Iranian air defense systems, a ground control station, and two explosive drone units.
“These assets posed a direct threat to vessels operating in regional waters. No U.S. personnel were harmed. CENTCOM will continue to defend U.S. forces and interests in response to Iranian actions under the current ceasefire arrangement,” the statement said.
Earlier reports indicated that President Donald Trump convened a national security team meeting in the White House Situation Room to finalize decisions regarding ongoing U.S.-Iran negotiations, insisting that Tehran must never obtain a nuclear weapon.
Meanwhile, The Guardian reported that the war between the United States and Israel against Iran, which began on February 28, 2026, has not led to regime change but has instead worsened conditions for civilians and strengthened state control. The report noted nearly 90 days of internet blackouts and widespread infrastructure damage, pushing Iran toward a severe economic crisis.
