Production of the iconic budget-friendly Ford Focus is being gradually phased out, leaving the Volkswagen Golf without its main rival in the market. The powerful Focus ST variant has already rolled off the line, with orders for the 280-horsepower hatchback halted earlier. Overall assembly of the Focus lineup will continue until November 2025, after which production will cease.
Over its nearly 30-year history, the Ford Focus became a best-selling and truly iconic car, renowned for its affordability and popularity.
Company leadership previously approved a plan to revitalize its European division following declining sales, focusing recovery efforts on new models.
Ford is preparing a successor to the Focus, expected to debut in 2027. The new vehicle will take the form of a compact crossover, offered with multiple powertrain options — gasoline, hybrid, and electric.
