President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said he is ready to hold elections immediately, but only if those raising the issue ensure security for voting, including agreeing to a temporary ceasefire. In an interview with Tagesschau, he stressed that elections could take place if a two-month truce is arranged during negotiations.

Zelensky also confirmed he would seek a second term if the war continues.

“For now, I am still within this first term, not by my choice. It has simply been extended because of the war,” Zelenskyy said. “I don’t know if I will run. If the war continues — yes, definitely. If there is peace — it’s not certain.”
