Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps has threatened to target American-affiliated universities in the Middle East, according to The Times of Israel.
The warning came after Iran claimed that U.S. and Israeli airstrikes had destroyed two Iranian universities.
In a statement carried by Iranian media, officials said that if the U.S. government wants its universities in the region to remain safe, it must officially condemn the bombings by 12:00 p.m. on Monday, March 30, Tehran time. Iranian authorities also advised staff, faculty, students, and nearby residents to stay at least one kilometer away from such campuses.
Several American universities operate branches across the Gulf region, including Texas A&M University in Qatar and New York University in the United Arab Emirates.
The угрозы come amid escalating tensions between United States and Iran. U.S. President Donald Trump has previously said he wants to avoid a prolonged war and aims to end the conflict within weeks.
As part of diplomatic efforts, Trump reportedly paused strikes on Iran’s energy infrastructure for 10 days at Tehran’s request, saying negotiations were “going very well.” Iran is expected to present a counterproposal for a potential settlement, while Washington awaits an official response.
At the same time, reports indicate that the Pentagon is preparing for possible ground operations in Iran, which could last for several weeks depending on decisions made by the White House.
