Border checkpoints were out of service for more than two hours.
The State Customs Service of Ukraine has reported that operations at border checkpoints have now been restored, according to the agency’s press service on Telegram.
"Information systems at the border have been restored, and the processing of citizens and vehicles entering and leaving Ukraine has resumed," the Customs Service said.
At 13:39, the State Border Guard Service announced a temporary suspension of processing citizens and vehicles at border crossings due to a power outage caused by a large-scale Russian missile strike on energy infrastructure.
Earlier this week, the digital Entry/Exit System (EES) began operating at the checkpoints Nyzhankovychi–Malhowice, Smilnytsia–Kroscienko, and Hrushiv–Budomierz. The EES replaces passport stamps with an automated system that scans travelers’ faces and fingerprints each time they cross the border. Starting in 2025, a biometric passport will be mandatory for traveling abroad.
