Donetsk region has been left without electricity due to targeted Russian attacks on its energy infrastructure, according to Vadym Filashkin, head of the Donetsk Regional Military Administration.
He stated that specialists have already begun repairs and are doing everything possible to restore power as quickly as possible. However, the full extent of the damage and the timeline for restoration are still being assessed. Filashkin added that Points of Invincibility are operating across the region, providing heat, electricity, and internet access.
On October 11, Russia carried out massive strikes on Odesa region, damaging energy facilities and leaving 44 settlements without power. Later, the city authorities reported that 317,000 households were left without electricity. By the morning, where technically possible, critical infrastructure was powered from backup sources, restoring electricity for 240,000 residents.
Meanwhile, Kharkiv mayor Ihor Terekhov warned of the toughest winter since the start of the war. He noted that Russia’s current tactic is to destroy Ukraine’s power generation, putting cities like Kharkiv, Chernihiv, and Sumy at risk. "The enemy is deliberately targeting our transformer substations and generation equipment, so we must be ready for all challenges," Terekhov emphasized.
