Blackout on January 31
In recent days, attacks on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure had decreased somewhat. However, on January 31, a failure occurred on high-voltage lines, plunging Kyiv, parts of Ukraine, and even Moldova into a blackout.
Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal reported that energy companies fully restored electricity in all regions after the large-scale disruption on the morning of January 31.
During that incident, emergency outages were enforced across Ukraine, and metro services in Kyiv and Kharkiv were temporarily suspended. Full restoration of power and subway operations took several hours.
