What’s the situation with border queues in Ukraine after the New Year: latest data from the State Border Guard Service

Longest queues after New Year form at Ukraine’s border with Poland, latest State Border Guard data

After the New Year holidays, the largest delays at Ukrainian border crossings are reported on the border with Poland, according to the Western Regional Directorate of the State Border Guard Service (SBGS).

The SBGS advises travelers to consider potential instability in the electronic systems of border checkpoints when planning trips.

Current border situation:

Poland:

Yahodyn – 1 bus; pedestrian and car lanes temporarily closed

Ustyluh – 70 cars; 0 buses; no pedestrian access

Uhryniv – 30 cars; 0 buses; no pedestrian access

Rava-Ruska – 40 cars; 0 buses; no pedestrian access

Hrushiv – 50 cars; 0 buses; no pedestrian access

Krakovets – 75 cars; 1 bus; no pedestrian access

Shehyni – 70 cars; 3 buses; pedestrian access operational after checkpoint

Smilnytsia – 20 cars; 0 buses; no pedestrian access

Nyzhankovychi – 25 cars; 0 buses; no pedestrian access

Slovakia:

Maly Berezny – 15 cars; pedestrian access in both directions

Uzhhorod – 35 cars; no pedestrian access

Mali Selmentsi – pedestrian lane open 09:00–21:00

Hungary:

Tysa – 10 cars; no pedestrian access

Dzvinkove – 15 cars; pedestrian lane open 08:00–19:00

Kosino – 30 cars; pedestrian lane open 08:00–20:00

Luzhanka – 20 cars; no pedestrian access

Vylok – 15 cars; no pedestrian access

Velyka Palad – pedestrian lane open 08:00–19:00

Romania:

Dyakove – 15 cars; no pedestrian access

Solotvyno – 5 cars; no pedestrian access

Porubne – 30 cars; no pedestrian access

Krasnoilsk – no cars or pedestrian access

Dyakivtsi – no cars or pedestrian access

Moldova:

Mamalyha, Kelmentsi, Rososhany, Sokyriany – no vehicles or pedestrian access

Border traffic trends:
Before the holidays, border crossings were record-high: on December 20, about 140,000 people crossed, and 155,000 the next day. After December 25, traffic began to decrease. Full stabilization is expected after school holidays and festive vacations, around January 10.
