Deontay Wilder (44-4-1, 43 KOs) has responded to unified WBC, WBA and IBF champion Oleksandr Usyk’s (24-0, 15 KOs) desire to face him in the ring.
“I think it would be amazing if it happens. of course, you can’t really believe it until the contracts are signed and things start moving in that direction. but I’m excited just thinking about it. I’d love to have that opportunity.
“Just hearing him say it means a lot. I appreciate it. and I’d be even more grateful to receive that chance officially, so I’ll be looking forward to it. I can’t wait to learn more details and give the fans what they want to see,” Wilder told ESNEWS.
The 40-year-old Wilder has lost four of his last six fights. he last stepped into the ring in June, scoring a seventh-round TKO win over Tyrell Herndon. the “Bronze Bomber” made ten successful defenses of his WBC world title at his peak and fought Tyson Fury three times — earning one draw and suffering two defeats.
In early December, Oleksandr Usyk announced that he wants to fight Deontay Wilder.
