Ukrainian drones struck a bridge over the Korabelny Fairway in St Petersburg overnight on 18 October, according to the Russian independent outlet ASTRA.

The extent of the damage is being assessed.

The bridge is a cable-stayed road structure forming part of the southern section of the Western High-Speed Diameter (WHSD), a toll motorway connecting the northern and southern parts of the city.

The 622-metre-long bridge, which is 39 metres wide and carries eight lanes of traffic, connects St Petersburg’s Kirovsky and Vasileostrovsky districts.

The bridge is located approximately 4.5 kilometres from the St Petersburg Oil Terminal, which was also reportedly on fire following a drone attack.
