The next round of peace talks between Ukraine, the United States, and Russia has been postponed due to the war in Iran. At the same time, Kyiv is awaiting positive news regarding a prisoner exchange with the aggressor country.

This was stated by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

He noted that he had a conversation today with Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council Rustem Umerov regarding his communications with U.S. representatives. According to Zelensky, dialogue with the United States continues on a daily basis.

“Due to the current situation around Iran, there are not yet the necessary signals to hold the trilateral meeting. But as soon as the security situation and the overall political context allow us to continue that specific trilateral diplomatic work, it will be done. Ukraine is ready for it,” Zelensky said.

The president also thanked intelligence services, the Office of the President, and all involved agencies for their efforts toward future prisoner exchanges. “We are working to bring all our people home from Russian captivity. We hope for good news,” he emphasized.

According to Suspilne, citing a source from the Ukrainian delegation on March 4, the date and location of the next round of talks between Ukraine, Russia, and the U.S. have not yet been determined.

“There is currently no date or location set for the next round of trilateral negotiations,” the source said.

Ukraine-US-Russia talks

Previously, Ukraine, the United States, and Russia planned a new round of peace talks at the beginning of March. The exact date remains unknown, but it was expected to take place between March 5 and 8.

The meeting was initially planned for Abu Dhabi. On Monday, March 2, President Zelensky said that the talks had not been postponed, despite the U.S. and Israeli operation against Iran.

However, on March 3, the Ukrainian president suggested that the Abu Dhabi meeting might not take place. According to him, the next round of negotiations could be held in Europe within a few days, with Switzerland, Turkey, Austria, or the Vatican named as possible locations.
