Authorities are considering the possibility of another terrorist attack. Following the incident in Lviv on February 22, another explosion occurred on the evening of February 23 in Mykolaiv. According to the Національна поліція України, at 18:10 an explosion took place on the territory of an inactive gas station, where patrol vehicles were parked as officers arrived for a shift change. Seven people were injured, two of them in serious condition, reported the head of the National Police of Ukraine, Ivan Vyhivskyi.
"This is no coincidence. The enemy is deliberately targeting Ukrainian police officers, who stand daily to protect people and the state. We view these events as a deliberate attack on law enforcement and an attempt to destabilize the situation within the country," Vyhivskyi commented.
Minister of Internal Affairs Ihor Klymenko also commented on the potential terrorist act in Mykolaiv, stating that explosive experts began working at the scene, though the exact cause of the blast is still unknown. "Right now, my main concern is the condition of the patrol officers. I have instructed to determine whether anyone needs to be transported to Kyiv for treatment. I am being constantly updated and keeping this under control. We will continue to provide information," he said.
