Detective Viktor Husarov of NABU has been placed under house arrest.
The Shevchenkivskyi Court in Kyiv changed his preventive measure, according to Suspilne and the Anti-Corruption Center. Prosecutors had filed the motion. Husarov is accused of collaborating with the FSB, allegedly having been recruited 13 years ago. The Anti-Corruption Center notes that just three days ago prosecutors insisted that only detention could mitigate the risks, but after a meeting with the SBU this morning, their stance suddenly changed.
This shift may indicate that Husarov was held in custody without sufficient grounds, as no significant investigative actions appear to have occurred in those three days. Lawyers requested night-time house arrest due to health concerns for Husarov and his young daughter, but the court approved round-the-clock house arrest as requested by prosecutors.
Last week, NABU also released detective Ruslan Magamedrasulov, detained the same day as Husarov. NABU confirmed that Magamedrasulov was documenting individuals involved in energy sector corruption schemes. Both detectives and Husarov’s father, Sentyabr, who was also released, faced accusations of collaborating with Russia.
