President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy has announced a meeting with Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney, as well as an online meeting with European leaders, while en route to Florida.
He said this while speaking with journalists.
“Yes, we are currently on a flight to Florida, United States. On the way, we will make a stop in Canada, where I will meet with Canadian Prime Minister Carney,” Zelenskyy said.
According to him, an online conversation with European leaders is also planned. “We will discuss all the issues, brief them, and exchange details of the documents that I will be discussing with the President of the United States,” Zelenskyy told reporters on Saturday.
The president added that he intends to raise sensitive issues contained in those documents during the talks with the leaders.
Zelenskyy–Trump meeting
As a reminder, on Sunday, December 28, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is expected to hold talks with U.S. President Donald Trump at his Mar-a-Lago residence in Florida.
According to media reports, Zelenskyy plans to use the meeting to try to resolve key differences over the draft peace agreement. He has emphasized that he will definitely raise territorial issues, including discussions on Donbas and the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant. European partners are also expected to join the talks online.
At the same time, CNN reports that European officials are cautiously optimistic about a positive outcome of the negotiations, while also preparing for possible unexpected scenarios.
