Ambassadors of the G7 countries have confirmed that they will continue working in Kyiv despite renewed Russian threats of possible strikes on the Ukrainian capital.

In a joint statement published on X on May 28, the diplomats said they had met earlier in the day with international business associations in Ukraine to discuss improving the country’s business and investment climate.

“Despite threats from Russia, all G7 states remain in Kyiv and continue their work in support of Ukraine,” the statement said.

The announcement came amid fresh warnings from Moscow about alleged “systematic strikes” on Kyiv.

Earlier, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov told US Secretary of State Marco Rubio that Russia was supposedly beginning “consistent strikes” against targets in Kyiv.

Following those remarks, Russia’s Foreign Ministry urged foreign governments to evacuate diplomatic staff from the Ukrainian capital.

Earlier this week, Katarína Mathernová also stated that European diplomats would not leave Kyiv because of Russian threats.
