The Shevchenkivskyi District Court in Kyiv has released Member of Parliament Nestor Shufrych from pre-trial detention and placed him under 24-hour house arrest.
Shufrych, a member of the banned political party Opposition Platform — For Life, is required to:
- remain at his registered address in Kyiv region at all times
- wear an electronic monitoring bracelet
- surrender his travel documents
- appear before investigators and the court upon request
- avoid contact with witnesses in the case
He is facing charges related to financing actions aimed at violently changing Ukraine’s constitutional order, as well as high treason. The case was submitted to court in 2023.
Previously, the Kyiv Court of Appeal set bail at over 33 million hryvnias as an alternative measure, but payment was complicated due to sanctions imposed on Shufrych.
