Ukraine’s Parliamentary Committee on National Security, Defence and Intelligence on January 13 supported President Volodymyr Zelensky’s motion to dismiss Vasyl Maliuk from the post of head of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU), MP Yaroslav Zheleznyak reported.

This marks a reversal of the committee’s previous decision, when lawmakers initially did not approve the resignation.

Today, 12 committee members voted in favour, one abstained, and five voted against (Kostenko, Bobrovska, Ivchenko, Rakhmanin, and Friz).

“Today there will be a vote in the Verkhovna Rada (and I think 226+ votes have already been secured). Briefly: the opposition demanded Maliuk’s report, while the authorities assured everything was fine,” Zheleznyak wrote.
