Yuliia Tymoshenko, leader of the Batkivshchyna party, has been placed under a preventive measure without electronic monitoring, Suspilne reports. The court ordered her to post bail of just over UAH 33 million.
According to the Anti-Corruption Action Center, the court also obliged the MP to appear upon summons by the court, investigators, or prosecutors; not leave Kyiv region; report any change of residence or employment; refrain from communicating with a number of MPs; and surrender her foreign passports. The court rejected the prosecutors’ request for a higher bail of UAH 50 million and did not impose an electronic ankle bracelet.
During the hearing, several Batkivshchyna MPs were present. Prosecutors claimed Tymoshenko used conspiracy measures, including checking for surveillance and seeking discreet meeting locations. The court denied the defense’s request to question MP Ihor Kopytin.
Prosecutors said searches uncovered six mobile phones and a computer allegedly containing files related to cash receipts and expenditures from 2022 to 2026. Tymoshenko denied the allegations, stating the computer was not personal and that the case is a provocation by NABU.
On January 14, NABU formally notified Tymoshenko of suspicion, alleging she offered bribes to MPs from other factions in exchange for votes on specific legislation. Tymoshenko has dismissed the case as politically motivated.
