President Donald Trump has said he is seriously considering the possibility of the United States leaving NATO.
According to his remarks, the issue is linked to what he sees as insufficient support from NATO allies, particularly in the context of tensions involving Iran. Trump described the alliance as a “paper tiger” and expressed doubts about its reliability.
He also suggested that some allies did not support U.S. actions and, in his view, failed to provide the expected level of cooperation during the crisis. In his comments, he referenced Russian President Vladimir Putin, stating that Putin is aware of his critical stance toward NATO.
U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio has also indicated that Washington may reassess its position within NATO after the conflict with Iran, citing concerns over allied support and access to military infrastructure.
At this stage, these statements are viewed as political positioning rather than an immediate decision, but they add uncertainty to the future of U.S. involvement in the alliance.
