Ukraine’s government will continue its program supporting residents of frontline regions as they prepare for the winter, Deputy Prime Minister and Energy Minister Denys Shmyhal said.

The program, implemented with support from the United Nations, provides Ukrainians with around UAH 19,000 to purchase firewood for heating.

“This program operated last year and will continue this year. The government supported the decision last week,” Shmyhal said.

The UN’s humanitarian assistance in Ukraine in 2026 is expected to reach around 2.1 million people. Support includes cash assistance, materials to repair or restore housing, and assistance for internally displaced people and those affected by the war.
