Russian forces launched 99 strike drones at Ukraine on the morning of September 1, most of which were intercepted, the Ukrainian Air Force reported.

According to the Air Force, 72 of the 99 drones were jet-powered.

Ukrainian air defenses shot down or suppressed 82 strike drones, including 57 jet-powered UAVs. That represents 79.17% of all jet-powered drones launched.

As of 6:30 p.m., 10 Russian strike drones remained in Ukrainian airspace, while new groups of UAVs were entering Ukrainian territory. Authorities urged residents not to ignore air-raid warnings.

Russia increases use of jet-powered drones

Russia has recently intensified its use of jet-powered drones against Ukraine, with Kyiv and the surrounding region among the main targets. The increased attacks have led to frequent air-raid alerts in the capital.

In August alone, Russian forces launched more than 2,800 jet-powered drones at Ukraine, with their use increasing sharply toward the end of the month.

These UAVs remain difficult for Ukrainian forces to intercept, and destroying them often requires the use of expensive interceptor missiles.
