Drones attacked Serpukhov in Russia’s Moscow region on the morning of October 22, possibly targeting the 75th Arsenal, a facility that repairs Buk and S-300V air defense systems, monitoring Telegram channels reported.
Explosions were heard in the city, and a missile alert was issued. No official information about the consequences of the attack was immediately available.
The facility repairs Buk and S-300V surface-to-air missile systems, which protect Russian troops and strategic sites against aerial attacks. If the arsenal is damaged or put out of service, it could complicate Russia’s efforts to repair damaged air defense equipment.
Serpukhov was one of several reported targets in a large-scale attack on Russia that began overnight. Explosions were also reported in Lipetsk, Tula, Kursk and Belgorod regions. Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin claimed that 90 drones had been heading toward the Russian capital.
Russia has been strengthening air defenses around key facilities. At the Alabuga drone manufacturing complex, authorities have reportedly established 33 air defense positions, making it one of the country’s most heavily protected sites.
The attacks on Russian territory have intensified. On the night of October 14, Ukraine’s Defense Forces launched more than 900 drones targeting 20 Russian regions, according to RBC-Ukraine.
